About the I3P Cyber Security Glossary

The I3P Cyber Security Glossary was conceived as an opportunity to draw together definitions for terms used in the field of cyber security from disparate sources. Terms included in the glossary were initially chosen from keywords used in the I3P Digital Libaray. Source glossaries were selected based on their completeness, reputation (as determined by what organizations and persons link to or cite them), and ease of use.

The following Glossaries were used:

RFC 2828 - Internet Security Glossary
http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc2828.html
Security Glossary - Anne and Lynn Wheeler
http://www.garlic.com/~lynn/
CSGNetwork.com Computer, Telephony & Electronics Industry Glossary
http://www.csgnetwork.com/glossary.html
Webopedia : Online computer dictionary for computer and internet terms and definitions

Sans Glossary of Terms Used in Security and Intrusion Detection
http://www.sans.org/resources/glossary.php
NIST Computer Security Division GLOSSARY OF COMPUTER SECURITY TERMS
http://csrc.nist.gov/secpubs/rainbow/tg004.txt
Microsoft Security Glossary

Hideaway.net Security & Networking Glossary
http://www.hideaway.net
Center for Secure Information Systems merged glossary
http://csis.gmu.edu/glossary/merged_glossary.html
Each term in the Glossary was searched against the above sources, and four definitions were selected from those available.
