I3P Control Systems Security Workshop
Sheraton Houston Brookhollow Hotel
Houston , Texas
February 15-16, 2007 (and PCS security training on February 16, 2007, free with registration)
Why You Should Attend
In assessing the value that this workshop will have for you and your
organization, consider the following scenario: You learn that a company
working in the oil and gas industry has just been successfully attacked
over public computer networks, with an expensive compromise of a type
of field device that is also found at your facility. You know your
industry partner has similar network architecture and defenses to you.
It's happened elsewhere, you know it could happen to you--but it hasn't
happened yet. What are the technical and managerial things that you
should do RIGHT NOW, and how should your planning change to ensure that
you won't be vulnerable to this scenario in the future? This is
the premise behind the workshop and the context within which solutions
developed under the I3P’s process control systems (PCS) security
research project will be presented and demonstrated.
What You Will Learn
Building on the success of our previous events, this
I3P workshop will give you an opportunity to learn about cutting-edge
research results and solutions specifically developed for securing oil
and gas control systems against cyber attacks. The I3P research team
will walk you through an attack scenario, explain various risk factors
and interdependencies, and show how I3P security tools, technologies
and metrics can help your organization prevent, detect and respond to
an attack. As a bonus, the I3P team will offer free PCS security
training on Day 2 of the event (on February 16).
The previous I3P workshop held in June 2006 in California attracted
great interest from oil and gas companies and their control system
vendors and security providers. For this follow-up event on February
15-16, 2007, the I3P is coming to Houston - the home of America 's oil
and gas industry - to further reach out to and support this critical
infrastructure industry.
